When was the last time you jumped rope? It may sound a little childish for you but it is definitely a great way to burn calories!

Lately, I’ve been eating a little too much, and the guilt haunts me all the time! So I’ve been searching for ways that I could burn some extra calories. I’ve always had the issue of time but jumping rope has been the best solution for all of my problems!

There is absolutely no excuse for you to say that you don’t have time to jump rope. It is an activity you can do anywhere and at any time! It is high intensity and will burn calories superfast.

Let me tell you about my strategy.

I usually workout in the mornings before work. I train with weights but I don’t often have enough time to burn those extra calories with more cardio. So now, after work, I put on my sports bra, shorts, and tennis shoes, and grab my jumping rope. I can do it two ways. I either do 1000 jumps (which takes me about 15 min) or 1 minutes of very quick jumps plus 30 seconds of rest for a total of ten minutes.

You may still be a little skeptical about jumping rope to burn calories, so let me give you some information about it:

You would actually have to run an 8-minute mile to work off more calories than you would burn jumping rope! Amazing fact right?

Not only calories but fat! Jumping rope involves almost every muscle in the body. It is a full body workout that will help you burn that extra fat in your body!

#4. Improved Coordination

Your brain will be working on coordinating your, eyes, feet and hands. Practicing this over and over again will help you gain coordination and you will see the improvement in the way you jump. You might even start trying some tricks!

As I mentioned before, it is an exercise you can do for about 15 minutes anywhere! If you are traveling, take your rope which probably weighs almost nothing, and take that time to work out. It is a complete workout that you will have no excuse not to make!

Jumping rope is a great way to improve your cardiovascular health. If you practice jumping rope from 3-5 times a week, you will experience a great improvement in heart and lung health. This is another reason why athletes also practice jumping rope. It is a great way to gain condition for absolutely any sport or physical activity.

Since it is a high intensity and aerobic exercise, you will have to learn how to control your breath and manage it correctly. After some time of practicing jumping rope, you will definitely see a difference. You will be able to breath better all throughout your entire workout!

Studies have shown that jumping rope develops the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Training both hemispheres will later on improve reading skills, memory and alertness.

Unlike many other ways of exercising, a jump rope will probably cost you around $10 dollars only! There’s no need to invest in a treadmill (which you won’t be able to take everywhere unlike the jump rope).  Think about it! Jump rope definitely sounds a lot better!

This is a great way to release stress and anxiety. Remember that any physical activity will help you deal with stress but jumping rope is such a complete workout that will probably help you manage stress and anxiety a lot better compared to other types of exercises.
